Trade union Pro again resorting to unlawful industrial action

Press releases |

Pro has instructed salaried employees working at Stora Enso’s Kotka and Anjala service centres to initiate an unlawful industrial action that will continue for a little less than one week. Pro is misusing its right to strike, as notification of any industrial action should be served at least 14 days prior to its commencement.

Pro announced yesterday at negotiations being conducted under the supervision of the National Conciliator that it was prepared to utilise unlawful measures to force employers to accept a deal.

“Pro is demonstrating its disregard for the rules of the mutually agreed conciliation system by consciously breaching the Act on Mediation in Labour Disputes and openly disclosing its unlawful intentions,” says Jari Forss, Deputy Director General of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation.

Pro failed to comply with the requirements of industrial action legislation already in the early stages of the collective bargaining dispute when its declared an overtime ban during the period of validity of the paper industry’s collective labour agreement.
