“Over the course of the conciliation process, trade union Pro has made threats of unlawful industrial action. This is in clear violation of the conciliation system’s rules. Right now, the most important concern should be to find a resolution to the dispute through negotiation,” says Jari Forss, Deputy Director General of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation.
“The employer side remains prepared to offer Pro a pay solution that in amount and form matches the agreements made with the industry’s other personnel categories, i.e. a pay rise totalling 2.5%,” Jari Forss says.
A Pro-declared strike affecting UPM’s salaried employees started on 6 April and is due to end on the morning of Wednesday 20 April. In addition to this, Pro has announced that salaried employees working for Stora Enso and Metsäliitto will commence a two-week strike on 27 April.
