The Finnish Forest Industries Federation, which represents the pulp and paper industry, announced today, 31 May, that the lockout will be extended to Wednesday 29 June if the parties have not concluded a competitive collective labour agreement by then.
"Negotiations are on-going but we are forced to announce an extension to the lockout now because the timetable for the announcement is set in Finnish law," says Mr. Timo Poranen, President of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation.
According to the law, the opposing side and national conciliator must be informed of a lockout two weeks in advance.
