The Finnish Forest Industries Federation now seeks a Russia expert to strengthen the influence of its advocacy work and to ensure the sector’s growth. The Russia expert produces up-to-date and specialist information on Russia as well as stays in close contact with stakeholders, the authorities, and decision makers at both the national and EU level so that they have the latest and most accurate information about the forest industry’s objectives with regard to Russia. The Russia expert influences the aforementioned parties with regard to the forest industry’s collective perspective in order to secure steady and cost-effective imported raw material for the Finnish forest industry as well as in order to improve the forest industry’s operating environment in Russia. The expert is also responsible for the organisation and realisation of the work of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation’s import timber committee.
We expect you to have practical experience of working in Russia or of other actual co-operation with Russia in the forest industry operating environment, strong knowledge of the sector, proficient influencing skills and the ability to build a co-operation network, as well as the ability to work smoothly with different kinds of people. The position also requires fluent Finnish, Russian, and English skills as well as strong communication with the Finnish Forest Industries Federation’s member companies and stakeholders. Experience in timber sourcing, especially in Russia, is considered a bonus.

The employment contract is open-ended. You will work out of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation’s offices in Helsinki’s Kruununhaka district. The selected candidate will be part of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation’s Forests sector and they will report to the Forests Director.
