Forest industry’s 2008 environmental statistics published

Carbon dioxide emissions down by more than 40% in 1990-2008

The products of the forest industry have climate benefits because growing trees bind carbon dioxide and store it as carbon. Renewable, recyclable and biodegradable wood and fibre products replace more energy-intensive and non-renewable materials, which leads to the positive climate effects being repeated. The forest industry spends almost €150 million annually on environment protection.

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation’s annual Environment Statistics publication contains a wealth of detailed, expert-compiled information about the Finnish pulp and paper industry’s environmental investments and emissions.

It also contains information on environmental management systems and contact persons on mills.
