Making Finland a competitive and innovative operating environment for the forest industry

Our goal is to establish an operating environment in Finland that is competitive and innovative from the perspective of the forest industry's production activities, provision of employment and investments.

The forest industry is pioneering the bioeconomy

A diverse forest-based sector makes Finland a forerunner of the bioeconomy and provides it with the ingredients for growth and success.

In the bioeconomy, the focal point of consumption shifts to recyclable, carbon binding and biodegradable products that are manufactured from locally sourced raw materials. Raw materials are utilised sparingly, in addition to which the industry's products and by-products are recycled effectively.

A diverse forest industry

The membership of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation covers the pulp, paper and paperboard manufacturers of Finland as well as about 80% of all wood products companies, such as sawmills and plywood mills as well as makers of joinery products and other wood-based articles.
