Strategy

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation's objective is to promote the development of Finland as a forerunner of sustainable development and the bioeconomy.

The forest-based industry offers many solutions that can help attain this objective. The industry can lead the way in bioeconomy-based growth if its cost competitiveness is improved and the prerequisites for success are strengthened in a way that support the creation of fresh business opportunities.

Cost competitiveness

To support its competitiveness and productivity, the forest industry needs modern operating models and collective labour agreements.

Energy, climate and environmental solutions should be cost-effective on both the national and international levels.

Competitively priced wood raw material should be steadily available.

As Finland's biggest buyer of transport services, the forest-based sector also requires competitive and cost-effective logistics and transport solutions.

Establishing the prerequisites for success and the creation of new products and business opportunities

In order to enhance the prerequisites for success and future growth the Federation promotes measures, which

  • ensure that employees are competent and healthy and competences correspond also with the future requirements
  • increase awareness of the environment-friendly aspects of products and manufacturing operations as well as work to ensure that wood is utilised diversely to meet energy and climate challenges
  • safeguard the equal competitive standing and market status of forest industry products in, for example, public procurements
  • launch and implement the industry's research and development programmes in order to ensure that the Finnish forest industry keeps its position as a forerunner in the utilisation of wood and fibres, enabling the creation of new business activities in Finland.
