The goal of the research strategy is to improve the competitiveness of the Finnish wood products cluster and its clients as well as to create opportunities for increasing the value-added of existing and future products. The strengthening of competence has also been highlighted as an important area of emphasis.

In addition to its research and development efforts, the Finnish wood products industry strives to strengthen its position through active participation in the standardisation of wood construction solutions and by engaging in European research cooperation.
