Research, development and innovations build future competitiveness

The forest industry companies are constantly developing their existing products and solutions while concurrently investing in the development of future products and innovations.

The joint research and development activities of the forest cluster focus on the pre-competitive phase and on joint projects between interested parties.

The combined annual R&D investments of the forest cluster in Finland amount to estimated €400–500 million.

The innovation environment needs to be in top shape

The funding of innovation activities, the renewal of Finland’s strong clusters and the promotion of growth-oriented entrepreneurship calls for, in addition to close cooperation between the networks of research and industry, a set of functioning steering methods and instruments.

The society and businesses create together the necessary preconditions for comprehensive innovation policies and ensure the international competitiveness of our innovation environment as well as provide support for the creation and implementation of innovations.
