Collective bargaining 

Almost 50,000 employees work in the member companies of the Finnish Forest Industries Federation. Their conditions of employment are defined in collective agreements, negotiated by the Finnish Forest Industries Federation.

Employment conditions supporting competitiveness

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation protects the interests of its members in labour-related issues and contributes to employment legislation. The purpose of making collective agreements is for conditions of employment to support the international competitiveness of the Finnish forest industry.

Key duties include advice and training of member companies in the application agreements and employment legislation. The Federation also assists member companies on labour relations issues, provides them with domestic and international labour market information and supports measures that aim to increase productivity.

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation negotiates eight collective agreements:

  • Forestry workers
  • Forestry experts
  • Workers in the paper industry
  • Salaried employees in the paper industry
  • Electricians in the paper industry
  • Workers in the mechanical forest industry
  • Salaried employees in the mechanical forest industry
  • Professional and managerial employees

 
The most comprehensive collective agreement concerns paper workers.  In addition The Finnish Forest Industries Federation negotiates two collective agreements for The Association of Joinery Industry.

The Finnish Forest Industries Federation has eight negotiation partners:

  • Finnish Paper Workers' Union
  • Finnish Wood and Allied Workers' Union
  • Finnish Union of Salaried Employees
  • Finnish Forestry Experts' Association
  • Finnish Electrical Workers' Union
  • Finnish Metalworkers' Union
  • Finnish Engineers' Association
  • Finnish Delegation of Professional and Managerial Employees
